Training and Experience 

​​Allison Markus Poirier, MA, LMFT 

A graduate of the Marriage and Family Therapy program at the University of Southern California’s Rossier School of Education in 2011, Allison completed her practicum and internship at the CLARE Foundation – an inpatient drug and alcohol treatment facility in Santa Monica, CA. While at the CLARE Foundation, Allison provided therapy to low-income and homeless individuals as well as early release inmates who were recovering from substance dependency in an inpatient and outpatient setting. Her tenure at the CLARE Foundation provided Allison with substantial experience in individual, group, family and couples counseling.

Upon completing her internship at the CLARE Foundation, Allison began here career as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at Of One Mind Behavioral Health – an intensive outpatient treatment center in Los Angeles, CA. Her work there provided allusions with substantial experience with adolescents and group therapy for young adults, adolescents and their families. Allison continued her career with KLEAN Treatment Centers. She started as a Primary Therapist in the West Hollywood IOP and was promoted to Program Director after 6 months. During her year as Program Director, she completely transformed the West Hollywood IOP into a well ran and efficient program. Allison was then promoted again to Director of Clinical Services, where she oversaw all clinical services and operations in KLEAN’s six facilities and was the direct supervisor of all Clinical Directors. Most recently, Allison oversaw the Clinical Programming for Muse Treatment in Culver City and successfully transformed their treatment services to be more therapeutic and collaborative in nature. 


In addition to working with substance users, Allison has had extensive experience working with the adolescent population in her private practice. Allison's ability to resolve conflict, teach effective communication skills and increase assertiveness and social skills has helped a number of teenage clients to thrive. Allison's focus with this population has been to increase their ability to trust, identify emotions and speak openly to parents and loved ones.

Throughout her career and training, Allison has provided services to the most marginalized and abused of populations. Many have acute substance abuse and other other addictive behavior. She has and continues to offer many of these individuals services at reduced rates, and at times without any fee to assure that they will get the help they need.

Allison works aggressively to identify the feelings that lead to maladaptive behaviors, substance abuse, self-abuse and other manifestations of personal issues. She believes in a hands on approach to treatment, takes a rational approach to her clinical work and has a  supportive, energetic, optimistic, and compassionate attitude that allows for the creation of a specific and individualized program for each client.
